Why it matters

Most RV problems show up on the first night of a trip.

The heater that hasn't run since last winter. The water pump that's been sitting dry. The battery that's been on shore power for six months and has quietly given up. These things are easy to catch at home — and expensive to deal with at a campsite three hours away.

A pre-trip check is the one hour that protects the whole weekend. It's not about finding something wrong — it's about knowing nothing is.

Common questions

Pre-trip inspection FAQ.

How long does the pre-trip inspection take?

Most visits take 1.5–2 hours depending on your RV type and whether any issues come up. Motorhomes take slightly longer due to the vehicle oil change. We come to your location so you're not waiting at a shop.

Do you come to where my RV is parked?

Yes — Sea Change RV is a mobile service. We come to your home, storage yard, campsite, or wherever your RV is kept throughout North County San Diego.

What if you find something wrong during the inspection?

We'll tell you exactly what we found, what it means, and what your options are — no pressure. If it's something we can fix on the spot, we'll let you know the cost before doing anything. Some items may require a separate service visit or parts order.

Is the pre-trip check worth it for a newer RV?

Yes, especially if the RV has been sitting for a few months or more. Batteries lose charge, water pumps go bad, and heaters that haven't run since last season may need some love. Even new systems benefit from a check before a trip. In fact, the newest RV's often have the most issues until all the kinks from the manufacturer are worked out!

Do you inspect travel trailers and fifth wheels, or just motorhomes?

Both. The pre-trip check covers all RV types — Class A, B, and C motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and toy haulers. Trailers start at $125 since there's no vehicle oil change required.

Can I combine the pre-trip check with other repairs?

Absolutely. If you have a list of things you've been putting off — a solar upgrade, an electrical issue, a slide-out that's been acting up — we can address multiple items during the same visit. Just mention it when you book.
